“the end of the day. Happy sight! Troops turning to right & left of the road. Note our Nigerian troops in foreground.” Crowd scene showing troops moving down a track where others are spreading out to make camp. This is probably the Fitzcol, consisting of the 4/4 KAR and the Nigerian Brigade, which Capt. Irvine was assigned to as a medical officer. ❧ This image is from an album chronicling the war time experiences of Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) in Portuguese East Africa with the Royal Army Medical Corps. During the war he met with missionaries in East Africa which in turn lead to him joining the mission at Tumutumu and then establishing the mission at Chogoria, both in Kenya.
