“Thankfully I was posted to S.S. Salamis as M.O. ship. Here she is.” Seascape showing the S.S. Salamis (1899-1924) a troop ship heading for Mombasa. Lt. Irvine was stationed on board as the medical officer. ❧ The image is from an album chronicling the war time experiences of Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) in German East Africa and Portuguese East Africa with the Royal Army Medical Corps. During this time he would meet Dr John W Arthur which in turn would lead to his missionary work at Chogoria in Kenya.
