Meat supply, Cabo Delgado, Mozambique, April-July 1918

1918

“Our meat supply. South African cattle.” Landscape view showing cattle walking along a path through trees. The cattle supplied meat to the Rose column to which Capt. Irvine was attached with the 4/4 KAR. ❧ This image is from an album chronicling the war time experiences of Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) in Portuguese East Africa with the Royal Army Medical Corps. During the war he met with missionaries in East Africa which in turn lead to him joining the mission at Tumutumu and then establishing the mission at Chogoria, both in Kenya.
