Officers of the 4/4 King’s African Rifles, Cabo Delgado, Mozambique, April-July 1918

1918

“A group of 4/4 KAR officers.” Group portrait of four officers of the KAR standing at a camp. The 4/4 KAR were attached to the Rose column during military manoeuvres in Portuguese East Africa. Capt. Irvine was posted to the same column as a medical officer for the Carrier Corps. ❧ This image is from an album chronicling the war time experiences of Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) in Portuguese East Africa with the Royal Army Medical Corps. During the war he met with missionaries in East Africa which in turn lead to him joining the mission at Tumutumu and then establishing the mission at Chogoria, both in Kenya.
