Patrol leaving, Cabo Delgado, Mozambique, April 1918

1918

“K.A.R. going out on patrol.” Landscape view showing soldiers marching out of camp in columns. The soldiers are men of the 4/4 King’s African Rifles, probably at the camp at Ancuabe. ❧ This image is from an album chronicling the war time experiences of Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) in Portuguese East Africa with the Royal Army Medical Corps. During the war he met with missionaries in East Africa which in turn lead to him joining the mission at Tumutumu and then establishing the mission at Chogoria, both in Kenya.
