A conductor faces the crowd with his baton raised and behind the crowd is a fortified wall and gate. This image belongs to an album of photographs collected by Dr. Stevenson and includes images from India, China and Africa. ❧ Sir Donald Charles Cameron was appointed governor of Tanganyika in 1924 and believed in developing indirect rule and encouraged rapid growth in the education system and African civil service.
