An avenue, Lumbo, Mozambique, 1918

1918

“…We came back along this lovely walk…” Exterior view showing two British officers in an avenue in the country. Lt. Irvine was on board the S.S. Salamis which was transporting troops to Portuguese East Africa and had stopped over at Lumbo. ❧ The image is from an album chronicling the war time experiences of Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) in German East Africa and Portuguese East Africa with the Royal Army Medical Corps. During this time he would meet Dr John W Arthur which in turn would lead to his missionary work at Chogoria in Kenya.
