„Elukolweni. Halbrechts Br. Bourquin, halblinks (Hand am Hut) Hauptlehrer Mazwi“ („Elukolweni. Half right brother Bourquin, half left (hand on the hat) main teacher Mazwi“). Six men, wearing suits and five of them hats, are standing in a bleak countryside. Half right a European, brother Bourquin, with beard, smiling. Left to him teacher Mazwi, holding a book in his left hand and raising his right hand up to his hat. Walther Bourquin, born in 1879 in Nain (Labrador), worked as a missionary in South Africa East from 1908 until 1949. He married Martha Wüstemann in 1908 in Berlin. In 1908 he arrived in Silo. In 1913 he was stationed in Gosen and around 1924 he was in Tinana. In 1925 he became president of the mission province South Africa East. In 1937 he worked in Mvenyane and retired in 1949. He died in 1974 in Durban.--Paul Albert Theile, born in 1908 in Niesky (Germany), was a theologian and preacher. He was no missionary in Africa, but went on an educational journey to East Africa in 1933 and to South Africa in 1934. He was a mission deputy in Montmirail (France) from 1934 till 1938. In 1948 he married Susette Schmidt. After 1962 he was director of the Moravian Church in Switzerland. He died in 1995 in Birsfelden (near Basel / Switzerland).
