Group of women carrying water buckets, South Africa

"Wasser tragende heidnische Kafferfrauen." ("Heathen Kaffir women carrying water."). The picture shows three women of African origin carrying water buckets on their heads. All three wear skirts and scarfs tied around their heads. Two wear blankets to cover their upper part of the body, one is topless but wears a necklace. Grass and bushes in the background. Imprinted on the image (but difficult to read since only part of what is written appears on the picture): "Kafferfrauen beim Laste[n tragen]. S. Afrika West No. 6[...]." ("Kaffir women [carrying] load[s]. S[outh] Africa West. No. 6[...]."). Photography faded. -- The photo was taken in the Western part of South Africa.
