Habor, Cape Town, South Africa, 1930

1930

"Blick vom Moravian-Hill auf d. Hafen v. Kapstadt." ("View of t[he] harbor o[f] Cape Town [seen] from Moravian Hill."). The picture shows bushes and trees in the foreground and to the left. Behind them are the roofs of buildings. Town houses in the background. On the left in the background the sea. Written on the card board: "Br. Baudert 1930." ("Br[other] Baudert 1930."). Photography partly faded. -- The picture was probably taken by Samuel Baudert (1879-1956), born as son of the missionary Samuel Baudert in South Africa. He was the mission director of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine from 1924 to 1927 and since 1929 their bishop. It might also be possible that the picture was taken by Eugen Theodor Baudert (1876-1953) who worked as a lecturer at the theological seminar in Mvenyane.
