“Corpl. Rezironi Kigomje – my ANMC. N.C.O. at the 3/3 KAR camp.” Portrait of a man in uniform. The majority of men with the African Native Medical Corps (ANMC) were from Uganda and the unit arrived in Dar es Salaam in July 1917 and they were demobbed in July 1919. ❧ The image is from an album chronicling the war time experiences of Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) in German East Africa and Portuguese East Africa with the Royal Army Medical Corps. During this time he would meet Dr John W Arthur which in turn would lead to his missionary work at Chogoria in Kenya.
