"Pella: Br. Balie (Prediger) m. Frau u. 3 Kindern, d. Sohn war Hauptlehrer in Pella, ist nach "Huisvriend" 28 nach Elim berufen." ("Pella: Br[other] Balie w[ith] wife a[nd] 3 children, t[he] son was main teacher in Pella, is appointed to join "Huisvriend" 28 in Elim."). The picture shows a group of three women and two men of mixed origin. The women wear light colored dresses. The men wear suits and ties. The group stands in front of the entrance of a house. Written on the card board: "P. Theile 1934." The picture probably shows Michael Zacheus Balie (1878, Genadendal - 1964 , Genadendal) who was a teacher and worked in the mission service in Wittewater from 1924 to 1933 and in Pella from 1933 to 1937. -- "Die Huisvriend" was a publication that was first published weekly and later monthly.
