New rates of customs duty are established for the importation of slaves and ivory from Angola and other Portuguese possessions to take effect January 5, 1760: 8,700 Reis for male and female slaves 4-feet heigh, and 4,350 Reis for children. Also maximum freight charges of 6,000 Reis per head, whether young or old.
