This picture shows the Kagera River, which Uganda's former President Idi Amin regarded as the proper border between Uganda and Tanzania. Kagera is one of the sources of the Nile. The hill was previously the site of a German fortress, and there are still traces of the fortress to be seen. It was one of the battle scenes between British and German forces during World War I. Later a church was built on the site. It belongs to the North Western Diocese, and it is visible from afar. But it was bombed and completely destroyed during Idi Amin's invasion of the country in 1978. Evangelist Simon Kibarabara and his wife worked here, and their home is nearby. Their support was of great importance to the work of Missionary Gudrun Larsen in this part of the country. Photo 1977.
