Mission at the bottom - City Mission in Madagascar. A general strike broke out in the impoverished country in 1990. The strike lasted for more than a year, and one of the main actors in this process was the Malagasy Council of Churches. Church Council mediated throughout the period between the old regime and opposition leaders, and ensured that the revolution proceeded peacefully. In 1993, democratic elections were held, and the country had a new president. Photo 1997
