"En kunstner. Joseph Rakotovao" ("An artist. Joseph Rakotovao"). He is doing a bust of Christian D. Borchgrevink. The children on the picture are wearing special shoes - button boots. Christian D. Borchgrevink was a missionary in Madagascar from 1869-1912. He married Johanne Christiane 1836-1924, maiden name Wang, in Tamatave, Madagascar on September 4, 1870. He received the St. Olavs Order in 1900.
