Gudrun Vest, born 1937. Primary school education. Course at the Selly Oak Colleges, Birmingham, 1972. Course at Løgumkloster Folk High School, 1973. Matron at the Danish YWCA in London, 1961-67. Sent by DMS/Danmission to Tanzania, 1968-2004. Working areas: Following language school in Nairobi, she became housekeeper of the Kibeta School for missionary kids, 1968-72, then parish assistant at Karagwe, 1973-76 and at Bushangaro, 1973-2004. Gudrun Vest has spent more than 35 years in Tanzania, and of these, 30 years have been in Bushangaro, living quite close to the local population, where she organized women groups, also in very remote areas. Here the women had the opportunity to learn and discuss issues as family planning, nutrition, needlework, and also to share common challenges.
