Greece - Map of the Dominion of Rome and Carthage

Map of “The Dominion of Rome and Carthage at the Beginning of the Punic Wars, B.C. 264,” from Outlines of Ancient History by William C. Morey. The original picture was used with the permission of American Book Company, the publishers. Although the map was originally color-coded, the distinctions are difficult to make out on the grayscale slide. Before the start of the First Punic War, Rome had control of all of Italy. Carthage controlled the entire Northwest coast of Africa, the western half of Sicily, Sardinia, the Balearic Islands, Malta, and much of Spain, n.d.
