Les obseruations de plusieurs singularitez et choses memorables : trouuées en Grece, Asie, Judée, Egypte, Arabie ... en trois livres. Le Portrait de la Genette. If you travel to Africa to go on a safari, you may find one of these animals near your table. This is a genet, and there are at least 14 known species of this type of animal, one that even has a reputation for boldly stealing food from human campsites! The genet is a wild animal, and despite its long body, long tail, and pointy-head, it has physical similarities to a domesticated cat, including retractable claws that enable it to climb trees. Like cats, their babies are also called kittens. But, when they are frightened or angry, genets act like skunks and spray an awful smelling liquid. You are not likely to make one angry traveling in the day on a safari, though, because genets are solitary, nocturnal animals that hunt small animals at night. Some of them even know how to fish at night!
