Ogoja pennies, also known as Iyayaw, are Y-shaped iron bars from southern Nigeria. Their market value was between a British penny and halfpenny in the early 20th century. Ogoja pennies were also used in ceremonial payments for marriages (bridewealth). Currently not on view
