Local stars of the big screen

Laura Fair, professor of History at Michigan State University, presents a discussion entitled, "Local Stars of the Big Screen: Working Life in Tanzanian Movie Houses." Fair discusses the background and history of the development of the film industry in Tanzania. She focuses her history by exploring how films connected the people in Tanzania, the differences between Tanzanian films and American films, what types of films were the most popular, and the working conditions in movie houses. Fair answers questions from the audience. She is introduced by John Beck, professor of Human Resources and Labor Relations.
