There was no published edition and only 4 trial proofs. Date from catalogue raisonné. James McBey Hardie, Martin, and Charles Carter. "The etchings and drypoints of James McBey (1883-1959)." Alan Wofsy Fine Arts, 1997, San Francisco. A view through a series of doorways, with a hanging lamp in the middle. On the right, two seated beggars back to back, one with a bowl, and another under a square doorway further on. After four trial proofs were printed this plate was abandoned in favour of "Beggars, Tetuan, No.2", the same subject reversed, with considerable variations.
