Note.- This and the following five plates deal with the work of a Camel Patrol starting from a post on the Suez Canal into the desert of Sinai towards Beersheba. The first date after the signature gives the date when original study was made while the artist was with the Patrol. The date 1919 gives the year of completion. Date from catalogue raisonné. A camel patrol of nine Australians is setting out at dawn into the desert east of Serpeum, one of the armed posted on the Suez Canal.
