ca. 1974-ca. 1983

This fabric was made for the political movement Société de Développement that was led by President Kountché in the late 1970s. The movement’s logo is the central theme. It shows the movement’s slogan, an outline of Niger, a calabash bowl and agricultural motifs such as grain, an ear of maize, and the sun. The purple background has a pattern of orange and blue shapes similar to the ear of maize. Text (French): Societe de Developpement; Consultation; Concertation; Participation; Republique du Niger. English translation: Development Society; Consultation; Dialogue; Participation; Republic of Niger. Donated by John Hutchison
