These Photographs , just received in London by air , were taken on the southern end of the Ogaden plateau in the region surrounding the Fafen River . _x000D_
The photographer, H . V . Drees of London , who succeeded in penetrating further south than any other newspaperman , has photographed abyssinian troops who acted as scouts between the forces of Ras Nasibu , on the left , and Ras Desta on the right ._x000D_

The scouts are principal means of communicating between the main forces of the southern front . They keep a constant watch for the approach of the enemy . The hill positions and villages neer have since been bombed by Italian planes , according to reports ._x000D_
These are not posed photographs , according to the photographer , and were made as the regular scouts , armed only with rifles , held theri positions in the hills . The photographer says there was no action in the district when these photographs were taken . But , he says , every time he raised his camera the scouts lifted their rifles ._x000D_
Rearguard actions are reported to have been fought in the last few days on the plains bellow these hills , according to reports from the Ogaden ._x000D_
