Recording note: Recordings were made with a Sony DAT Walkman model TCD - D8 (kindly loaned by the School of Scottish Studies) machine and a matching single point stereo microphone (Sony ECM 959A which PC purchased shortly before his visit began). Recordist's note: NB. in Peter Cooke's notes this is: PCUG97.1.19 (pgm 0?). Performance note: No singing, but different combinations of notes are played to teach one the geography of the keyboard. Awio is a member of the group Aweki Iparo ("I leave it to you to think") which was displaced by Karamojong from their home villages and came to Lira to eke out an existence in slum conditions as 'displaced persons', selling skewered and grilled pork around the town. Performer's note: James Awio of Orum, Otuke county, now livng around Lira.
