Drumming workshop at Legon: atumpan drum

This is a demonstration of the Akan atumpan 'talking drums', at Legon during a drumming workshop. A male drummer illustrates the relationship between certain drum rhythms and the local Twi Akan dialect and demonstrates the 'drum language'. Rycroft interviews him and asks the English translations of the local phrases which he uses. This is a very interesting recording although the sound of the drum is distorted.
